A $25,000 Opportunity For You and Your Students

The MAC Group is proud to be a sponsor of Blurb’s Photography.Book.Now international juried competition.
Photography.Book.Now is a celebration of the most creative, most innovative, and finest photography books – and the people behind them. There are three categories in which you can enter — Fine Art, Editorial and Commercial. You may enter in one or all and submit as many books as you would like (although, there is a submission fee of $35 for each entry). The Grand Prize for this contest for the best self-published photography book is $25,000! Plus there are a whole lot of exciting prize packages for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place in each of the categories.
This could be an excellent opportunity for one of your students to launch their careers. I’m sure that as an educator, you too could find a good use for $25,000! To make it easier and more affordable for you and your students to participate in support of Photography.Book.Now, Blurb has teamed up with MAC-On-Campus to create special promotions for educators and students.
Educators can get their first book free (up to $29.95) with a coupon via email that can be requested at http://www.blurb.com/partner/maconcampus_educator.
Students can receive $10 off any book order over $35.95 by requesting a coupon at http://www.blurb.com/partner/maconcampus_student .
Noted photography book expert Darius Himes will serve as lead judge for the second year, with a panel of editors, gallery curators, publishers and photographers to be announced. This is an excellent opportunity for your students (and you) to get their images seen by some very important and influential people. It is also an opportunity to create what could be a very effective self-promotion piece.
The grand prize, top category winners, and honorable mentions will be honored at the Photography.Book.Now evening awards celebration in New York this Fall. Everyone is welcome to attend. You’ll have the opportunity to meet jurors and industry peers. Attend with your friends and partners, and don’t forget to bring a copy of your book to show off your best work. Later in the year, there will be additional “meet-ups” in San Francisco, Chicago, London, and Paris. For more information and to enter the competition, visit the Photograpy.Book.Now website.
Blurb is looking for your help in telling your students and fellow faculty persons about this. Email the info, put it on your department blogs, or post it on bulletin boards. Blurb has also created post cards and posters for this.
